Coming Soon to Cheraw: SPC Credit Union Expands Physical Footprint in Chesterfield County

SPC Credit Union’s Executive Leadership Team is delighted to announce that they are expanding their physical footprint into the town of Cheraw. After adding Chesterfield County to the Credit Union’s Field of Membership in September of 2022, the locally-operated, Member-owned financial institution immediately began seeking a brick-and-mortar landing spot where residents of Cheraw and the whole of Chesterfield County can come to handle all of their banking and financial education needs. This branch, which will be located at 849 Chesterfield Highway, is slated to be open for business in the first half of 2024.

SPC’s President and CEO, Linda Weatherford, says of the Credit Union’s expansion: “SPC has an 80+ year history of serving local communities, and we are thrilled to serve Chesterfield County through our Cheraw office. This branch will be an innovative approach to banking that includes our 24/7 ConnectExpress Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) as well as local, familiar faces to provide the safe and personal service our Members have come to know. In addition to our personal and affordable financial services, SPC is committed to the goal of providing financial education and empowerment through our relationships with local schools, non-profits, and civic organizations. We look forward to meeting each of you and building a stronger financial future for all.”

The Cheraw branch will offer a full range of financial services to suit the bustling community’s ever-evolving needs, including low-to-no-fee checking and savings accounts for individuals and businesses; high-interest investment options; and loans for every lifestyle. SPC Credit Union prides itself on providing personalized solutions to its Members by pairing financial education with a comprehensive catalogue of products and services designed to enrich individuals’ financial well-being.

In the last year alone, SPC’s Members have benefitted from a lowered par share (Members can now open an account with a deposit of only $5.00); the addition of a Member Rewards program, which allows Members the opportunity to earn banking benefits like waived fees and quicker availability of deposited funds; and an enhanced checking program that gives Members a customizable checking experience based on their needs and desired benefits. On top of these Member experience enhancements, the Credit Union’s ConnectExpress ITMs have made Members’ access to their money more convenient than ever. The ConnectExpress machines--which are available at every branch and will soon be available at the Cheraw location--look like a traditional ATM but act like a Teller. Members can use the machines to deposit cash and checks, withdraw cash, make loan payments, check account balances, and more, at any time of day or night. Additionally, if used during business hours, Members can choose to speak with a Virtual SPC Associate through a live video call.

SPC Credit Union’s Safe, Personal, and Connected approach to local banking helps to ensure that its Members continue to rely on their local credit union year after year, since 1941. This year, the team at SPC invites all of Chesterfield County to give the newest banking option in town a whirl.
